Scott Cohn is an award winning journalist, public speaker, and consultant based in Santa Cruz, California . He contributes to CNBC 's breaking news coverage, and serves as a special correspondent for CNBC's American Greed .   
In 2005, the University honored him with its annual award for Distinguished Service to Journalism. 
Before launching his own production company in 2014, Cohn spent more than 25 years as a CNBC reporter. He helped launch CNBC in 1989, eventually rising to Senior Correspondent. He established the CNBC Chicago bureau as well as the network's investigative unit. 
His work has received multiple honors including the Edward R. Murrow Award , two Gerald Loeb Award for business journalism, two Cable Ace nominations, as well as multiple Emmy nominations.
