Death of Wendy Kae Robinson and Arrest
On July 8, 1987, Wendy Kae Robinson disappeared after sunbathing on Lake Weatherford in Weatherford, TX. Her body was found four days later near a ranch seven miles away from the lake. The autopsy revealed that she died of blunt force trauma.
In January of 2016, investigators took over the cold case which has been unsolved for 29 years. After developing a new strategy based off old leads, detectives sought the assistance of the Texas Rangers and the United States Secret Service. Following months of exhaustive investigation, reviewing case reports, taking new statements and interviewing multiple individuals associated with the case, investigators worked with the Parker County District Attorney’s office and presented the on-going case to the Parker County Grand Jury. This lead to the arrest of Adkins in Ranger, Texas. Police say that they expect to make more arrests in the future.
Investigators are currently awaiting DNA results from laboratories in California and Texas.
