Peter Werner is an American startup attorney at Cooley LLP in San Francisco.  He represents high-growth companies and their investors. He runs Cooley's San Francisco Corporate Department and is on Cooley's firmwide pro bono committee. Werner is a curator of Cooley GO, Cooley's microsite for entrepreneurs and startups. 
After college he became a paralegal in 1996 for Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP. After a year with the firm, he joined Cooley LLP, also as a paralegal. After a summer with Schiff Harden LLP, he returned to Cooley in 2000 where he has been a Partner ever since. 
As an attorney for various startups and investors over a number of years in Silicon Valley and other cities, he has interacted with some of the smartest and brightest in their field. He works mostly as an advisor for the leaders of the companies or entities that he represents.  His current clients include Allbirds, AngelList, Andreessen Horowitz, Big Screen VR, Zuckerberg Initiative, Everipedia, Founders Fund, Fundbox, General Catalyst, Google Ventures, Opendoor, Salesforce.com and TravelBank. Werner is a mentor at MuckerLab, he is on the board of directors of the Full Circle Fund and Imagine H2O, and he is and Ambassador for the Startup in Residence (STiR) program run by the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Innovation.
Werner is married and has two sons.
