Patricia Bahia (pronounced ba-hé-yah) is a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and recording artist and ovarian cancer survivor who creates catchy piano-based indie-pop songs that celebrate life’s struggles and triumphs. Patricia’s music is a soothing and refreshing cup of tea that blends the vocal range, finesse, and inspiring lyrics of Sarah McLachlan, the bouncy, “can’t get it out of your head” melodies of Ingrid Michaelson, with a twist of Aimee Mann’s atmospheric and contemplative writing and vocal style.

Patricia is currently in the studio with producer Jon Hayes working on her sophomore release, a full length CD, which features guest appearances from guitarist Takeshi Akimoto, whose credits include his current gig as guitarist in the Ziggy Marley Band; pianist David Joyce, who has toured with Natalie Cole, Burt Bacharach, David Byrne, and worked with Chris Isaak, U2, Neil Young, Elvis Costello, Wynonna, Vince Gill, and Frank Sinatra; as well as a “Playing for Change” style children’s choir recorded in Los Angeles and Oakland California.

Patricia’s debut EP "The Long Road Home" (2010) also produced by Jon Hayes, is best described as a musical cross-country road trip. Just as long stretches of open highway provide us with much-needed time for reflection, the softly shifting landscape of Patricia's thoughtfully-crafted songs allows the listener space to connect with her intelligent lyrics and pop arrangements that range from cheerful to tender, from joyous to melancholy. Patricia's voice is more than just beautiful, it is smooth as a polished stone that has been through the rock tumbler of life.

A former jazz and gospel singer, Patricia started her career as a soloist with the acclaimed Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir--recording with Linda Ronstadt, performing with Joan Baez, and opening for Bonnie Raitt. Patricia discovered her “bucket list” desire to write songs during a successful battle with ovarian cancer nine years ago. She credits her illness with the discovery of her songwriting voice, and the power of music with her recovery.

"In the process of healing, I discovered my voice as a songwriter. Music was a huge part of my recovery, and it saves my life every day," says Patricia.

Her music resonates with cancer survivors and regular folks alike, who find inspiration, solace, and hope through her infectious melodies, expressive voice and soulful lyrics.

Now healed, Patricia is on a mission to spread love, healing, joy and peace through the power of words and music--and to inspire others to follow their dreams and live artistically.

I fell in love with Patricia’s music when I first heard it. A cancer survivor, Patricia has turned her struggles and triumphs into truly memorable songs that are perfect for placement in television, movies and commercials. The title track is one of her best, and coupled with her musical talents, exemplifies what indie music is all about. She also gives a great live performance - check her out the next time she's performing.

Songwriting for Film & TV, review of Long Road Home CD.

Patricia Bahia's CD is beautifully sung and impeccably produced. Her songs are graceful, triumphant and totally commercial in their polish and sparkle. She writes and sings masterfully in a variety of styles - country, pop and gospel - to get her message across: that life, despite its ups and downs...No, because of its ups and downs, is worth living. This is contemporary, adult popular music that would enhance a movie, a top notch TV show or the album of a savvy artist. Well done!

Every song on this EP is well crafted, well produced and well worth listening to.
--Jai Josefs, hit songwriter and author
