Carroll and Anfield are classically trained musicians; Laurie on the clarinet and saxophone, Stef on the piano. They were inspired to start making drum and bass after listening to Resonant Evil's Renegade Hardware 2003 classic 'Troubleshoot'. They stopped playing Jazz and focused their energy for the next years trying to master their craft, picking up any software and hardware they could to aid their dreams of success.
In 2009, they sent their work to a number of labels and signed to Ram Records after they liked their earlier Plush Recordings releases. Their first releases on Ram were 'Now It's Time' and 'Onslaught' which debuted on Andy C's acclaimed mix 'Nightlife 5'.
Mind Vortex has went on to create hits such as 'Alive, 'Hotbox', 'Transformation' and 'Arc'. They have performed at clubs and festivals around the world including the Electric Daisy Carnival.
