Maygen Sears was reportedly shot first, while outside a building in the 700 block of East Franklin Street in Evansville. A 911 caller in the 300 block of North Linwood Avenue, less than a block from where Maygen was found, reported shots fired at about 10:52 a.m. local time.
Days before her death, Maygen requested a restraining order against Daniel in January 2017, and was granted a temporary 30-day order pending a hearing. That order expired Monday, February 12, 2018, the day the couple was set to appear in court.
Daniel Sears reportedly threatened to shoot and kill Maygen multiple times from January 4-11, 2018. He specifically threatened to shoot her in the back if she did not return to their home, according to court documents.
