She is also the founder of the Women in Venture initiative, which seeks to create a global pipeline for women in venture capital.
Early Life & Education
Marisela was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was raised by a single mother, whom García Marquez credits for her work ethic. Her stepfather was also a positive influence on her life, opening her eyes to new possibilities.
In 2015, García Marquez founded iberus, a company that provides tech investment opportunities to international investors in the United States. She created this venture with the goal to bridge Silicon Valley's and Latin America's respective tech ecosystems.
She was inspired to do this after working with Jalisco's local government in Mexico. She learned about the potential and setbacks of Mexico's tech industry, particularly the lack of opportunities at a global level.
