M Dutta is a 65 year old woman from Gurgaon who sneaked an axe into Delhi Metro and allegedly attacked a co-passenger with it. The axe was detected during the X-ray scan of her bag by the CISF personnel when she entered the Hauz Khas metro station .
The CISF personnel allowed the woman to carry the axe as it was a small tool and she had pleaded that she is a poor labourer and uses it for her work. CISF has suspended the personnel, whose identity has not been revealed, for dereliction of duty .
A senior CISF official gave this statement to the media :
"While the axe was detected by the on-duty CISF personnel at the entry of the station itself, he probably considered her age while allowing her to take the axe. He probably also misjudged her plea to let her carry the axe saying she was a poor woman. An inquiry has been ordered"
Ms Dutta was apparently traveling to Huda City centre when she got into a heated argument with a co-passenger over a seat in the woman's compartment of the train. When asked to sit elsewhere she pulled out the axe and charged at her co-passenger. The passengers managed to overpower her and seized the weapon.
Ms Dutta was allowed to go home after counselling.
