Linda Rodriguez was a 19-year-old college student who lived in Moreno Valley, California. She is originally from Los Angeles, California. Linda was a fan of the Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Los Angeles Lakers. Family and friends describe Linda as a hardworking person who brought joy and love to the people that she met.
On December 9th at 5:50am, Rodriguez was driving to work in her Nissan Sentra when she was broadsided by a 2001 Dodge Ram Van 3500 Series that ran through a red light. Rodriguez was driving westbound on Mongolia Avenue in Riverside while the other vehicle was driving southbound on Tyler Street. The force of the crash caused Rodriguez's vehicle to hit an electrical pole at the center of the median. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness saw the Dodge Ram leave the scene and proceeded to follow her and report her license plate number, which lead police the apartment of Erasto Gomez in Riverside. After being questioned, Gomez was detained and booked at Robert Presley Detention Center for hit-and-run involving injury or death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Police believe that Rodriguez’ speed at the time of the collision may have been a factor in the collision.
