Zaay Green

Zarielle Lacole Green (born March 25, 2000), who goes by the name Zaay, is a basketball player for the Tennessee Vols. [1]

Personal Life

Zaay stands at six-feet tall and comes from an athletic family. Her mother Yolanda Harris, was a four-year starter on the basketball team at Stephen F. Austin from 1994 - 1997 where she's ranked 6th place for all-time single-season steals. Zaay's father, Zoderick Green, was an All-America basketball player at Central Oklahoma and set the school record for assists in a single game, earning 17 against Tarleton State in 1995. Zaay has three sisters Zarria Green, Ariele Warren and Ariana Warren. [4]

Education

Zaay is majoring in communication studies at the University of Tennessee. She was the recipient of a Marion D. Hoppe Winners' Circle Scholarship. Zaay graduated from Duncanville High School. [4]

Basketball Career

In high school Zaay threw up consistently impressive basketball stats. As a senior she put up an average of 15.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Before joining University of Tennessee, Zaay considered playing with with UCLA Bruins, Georgia Lady Bulldogs, Texas A&M Aggies and the Kansas Jayhawks. Known for her power and speed, she typically plays a point guard, but can easily be a small forward, or even a power forward. [2][3]

Torn ACL

On November 9th 2019, Zaay tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee leaving her unable to play for the rest of the season. She was averaging 13 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2 assists at the time. [5]
