YOOKiE is an American DJ and electronic music duo made up of brothers Anthony and Chris Alfaro.
They originally hail from Long Island. [-1] YOOKiE is known for their production of their style of bass, dubstep, trap music as well going so hard during their live performances that it resulted in promoters ending their sets early. [1] [0] They have released music under labels such as Firepower, Deadbeats, Kannibalen, Never Say Die, Spinnin' Records, Dim Mak, Big Beat, Buygore, and Pixel Terror. [7]

Early Life and Musical Vision

The Alfaro brothers are originally from Islip, New York. [-1] Music had always been a part of their lives, Anthony played guitar while Chris produced hip-hop instrumentals. When Chris was 14, he had a dream that he and his brother were on stage before a sea of people, which they credited to be a vision of their future success in music. [8] It was after seeing Flux Pavilion and Cookie Monsta at Roseland Ballroom in New York City on May 10th, 2012 that motivated the Alfaro brothers to pursue electronic music and would begin to experiment with trap and bass the next year. [-1] Their biggest musical inspiration is their mother, and their most prominent influence outside their family is Skrillex. [7]
Music Career and Milestones
There are a few different stories about how the name "YOOKiE" came about.
One story comes from Chris' friend Evan in high school who would randomly yell words in the hallway, one of which being "yoookieee".
[-1] Another story from EDM.com says that it came from a dancer from a strip club in Hawaii that they thought had a cool name.
YOOKiE's big break came when Skrillex played their remix of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites at one of his shows. [-1]They have since collaborated with Slander, Black Tiger Sex Machine, PhaseOne, Wooli, Kompany, G-REX, and Kai Wachi. [5] Some of their most popular songs include "Human Annihilation", "Last Transmission," "After All" with Slander, "State of Emergency" with PhaseOne, "Snakes" with BTSM, and "F U" with Kai Wachi. [5] In October 2018, YOOKiE released the BASSiC EP. [5] In the past, YOOKiE have had their live performances in Montreal and Tuscaloosa, Alabama end prematurely due to going too hard. [0]
