Education
Hopeman attended Pomona College where she earned a BA in International Relations. She earned her MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Career
Early in her career, Hopeman worked in Technology Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs. In addition, she managed the China private equity practice at Winnington Capital and established the China office for Jefferies & Company. [1]
From 2010 to 2014, Hopeman was the Managing Director/Head of Asia of Citibank. In 2014, she became Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Arbor Ventures, an Asia-based early stage venture firm focused on the intersection of financial services, big data and digital commerce. Their Portfolio companies span several countries including China, Japan, Southeast Asia, United States and Israel.
Hopeman is a Board Member of several companies including Abra, Karmic, Akulaku, Global iD, and Silot Pte. Hopeman is a founding member of the Internet Securities Services Committee established by the Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission. [1] She also serves on the board of AngelVest, the largest angel investment group focused on Greater China with presence in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. [1] Hopeman was previously the Vice Chairman of Women in Leadership in China, the premiere network of female VC partners and entrepreneurs. [1]
