Wayne Anthony Hawes was a 50 year old suspected criminal from Columbia County, Georgia.

Allegations

On April 22, 2016 Wayne Anthony Hawes was confirmed the suspect in the shooting murders of 5 people in Appling, Georgia.

The seperate shootings took place on Johnson Drive and Rosemont Road.

Three were shot in one location and two others were shot at a nearby subdivision.

Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene and the fifth died on the way to the hospital.

He led police on a manhunt.

Death

Wayne Anthony Hawes' body was later found by police inside his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the manhunt. [1]

According to authorities, Hawes “apparently snapped” after his wife informed him that she wanted a divorce.
