Vincenzo Paduano murdered his ex-girlfriend, Sara Di Pietrantonio by running her car off the road, then used a cigarette lighter to set her and her car on fire.

Vincenzo Paduano, 27, confessed to killing Sara Di Pietrantonio on Sunday May 29, 2016 he walked off his job as a security guard around 3 a.m. to wait for Di Pietrantonio outside her current boyfriend’s home. Di Pietrantonio left alone, and Paduano followed in his car, forcing Di Pietrantonio off the road as she tried to drive away.

Once Di Pietrantonio was stopped, Paduano allegedly got into her car and, following an argument, doused both Di Pietrantonio and the car’s interior with alcohol. Di Pietrantonio got out and started to run, and Paduano set the car on fire before catching up to her and also lighting her on fire.

Paduano was questioned by police for around eight hours before admitting to the crime.

Paduano is currently being held on suspicion of premeditated murder.

Paduano and Sara had dated for two years but had recently broken up. Vincenzo Paduano's motivation for the murder was that he “didn’t accept being abandoned.” according to prosecutor, Maria Monteleone.

Police officer Luigi Silipo, said of the case “In 25 years in this job I have never seen such a heinous crime."
