Verran Madhavan is a British Punk rocker living in Manhattan who was arrested after extorting money by blackmailing people on Tinder.

Verran was born and raised in the city of Essex.

Growing up he developed an interest in the Genre of music known as Post hardcore and Punk, and was influenced by the lifestyle. He would attend many of the local shows. ^[1]

He now lives in Bushwick in New York City with his girlfriend.

After creating a fake profile with the name of "Jennifer" on the dating website known as Tinder, Verran found was able to find a married man on the platform to seduce.

On April 27th, 2017, the man agreed to meet with "Jennifer" for a date in Brooklyn. Instead of actually meeting the woman, as court papers state, he was instructed via text messages to:

The married man followed i the directions and left $800 cash inside a yellow newspaper box.

The Midtown resident continued to receive demands for cash from Jennifer, aka Madhavan, and sent another $3,115 in hush money via PayPal.

In early May 2017, Verran demanded another $2,500, which said to put cash into an envelope to leave in Greenwhich village. During this time, the cops were watching and eventually were able to capture and arrest Verran.

He has been released on a $3,000 bail.

He is due back July 10 in Manhattan Criminal Court.
