Vera Maria Bergengruen started her career in 2006 as a Web Intern at Miami Herald Media Company. From 2006 to 2009, she worked as a Reporter & news editor at The Dartmouth, Inc. For a year, in 2009-2010, Vera was a Document Clerk at Davis Polk & Wardwell. In 2010, she served as a Corporate Communications/Investor Relations Intern at Terremark Worldwide and Refugee Mentoring Program Coordinator at International Rescue Committee.
In 2011, Vera was a Global Crisis Communications Assistant at Royal Caribbean International. In 2011-2012, she served as an Account Executive in Strategic Communications at DLB Group Worldwide. From 2012 to 2017, she worked at The McClatchy Company, firstly as an Editorial Assistant and later as a Regional and National Correspondent. She was also 2016-2017 Paul Miller Reporting Fellow.
Since 2017 and until now, Vera is a National Security Correspondent at BuzzFeed.

Vera holds a Bachelor's degree in Political science from Dartmouth College. Previously, she finished Ransom Everglades School.
