Vanessa Yurkevich (born November 29, 1985) [16] is an American journalist based in New York City. She is currently a digital correspondent for CNN Business and business reporter for CNN Money. [3]
Early Life & Education
Yurkevich attended Montclair High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies from Fordham University. She also holds a certificate for Polish from Hunter College. [3] [4] [2]
Career
Early Beginnings
In December 2008, she became a freelance producer for the Associated Press . [3] While there, she produced and conducted interviews in Spanish for AP Television in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
NY1
In January 2008, Yurkevich became a field producer for NY1. She edited stories related to the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Barack Obama's visit to Puerto Rico, 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides, the 2008 United States presidential primary (for both Republicans and Democrats), Sonia Sotomayor Supreme Court confirmation hearing, the 2008 World Series, and the Yankees' ticker-tape parade (after winning the 2009 World Series). [3] She later became a reporter for the Network in February 2010, providing stories from New Jersey, Queens, and Staten Island. [3]
In January 2012, she became a local reporter for the New York Times . Located in East Village, Manhattan, she conducted interviews and reported on food, culture, and "hidden gems" in the area. [3] During this time, she was also the host of Buzz60, a lifestyle show that provided short news segments about travel, food, and entertainment. [3]

In October 2014, Yurkevich joined CNN. She began as a digital Correspondent, producing videos about current events on CNN's website. She has reported on elections and races within the Pennsylvania's 18th district and Arizona's 8th district, respectively; she engaged with the steel workers in Pittsburgh and the senior citizen community respectively. Since working at CNN, Vanessa Yurkevich has interviewed Richard Branson, Tommy Hilfiger, Stephen M. Ross (CEO of The Related Companies), [6] Arianna Huffington, [11] singer-songwriter Luis Fonsi, and Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit of Norway. [1]
In addition, Yurkevich has also reported on immigration from the Mexico–United States border. [1] She created a three-part written series entitled "The Green Wall," which she spent months embedded with three border agents about life protecting the US border. [1]

Yurkevich is the recipient of two fellowships: the Scripps Howard Immigration Fellowship from the International Center for Journalists and the US - Russia Young Media Professionals Fellowship from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. [1]
