Vanessa Marcotte was an account manager for Google. She lived in New York, New York and is originally from Leominster, Massachusetts.
Vanessa also volunteered as a tutor to help students at Tutoring Plus of Cambridge since 2013.
Death
Vanessa Marcotte was murdered on Sunday August 7, 2016 after going for a jog.
She was last seen at 1 p.m. A Mass.
State Police K-9 unit found her body at 8 p.m the same day half a mile away from her mother's house in Princeton, Massachusetts.
Police believe that she may have been sexually assaulted and lit on fire.
Police do not believe the killing was related to the murder of and rape of another female jogger, Karina Vetrano in Queens, New York.

Google made the following statement on Vanessa's death:
"Vanessa Marcotte was a much loved member of the Google team, working in our New York office for the last year and a half, and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work and love of Boston sports.
We are deeply shocked and saddened, and our thoughts are with her family and friends'."
Career
Vannessa had worked as a healthcare account manager for Google in New York, New York since January, 2015.
She previously worked as a marketing specialist in Boston, Massachusetts at the printing company Vistaprint. Before moving to Boston she worked as a senior marketing associate in paid search for Vistaprint in Lexington, Massachusetts.
She worked as an Account Specialist at the online advertising company WordStream.
