Vanessa D. Reese was a resident of Fairbanks, Alaska. ^[1] She was studying nursing.

On February 22, 2017, Vanessa and her ex-boyfriend, Thien Tran were found dead in an apparent murder suicide at the boyfriend's home. ^[1] They were discovered at a residence on the 1200 block of McCarty Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. ^[1]

Police received two reports regarding Vanessa, beginning just before 6:30 p.m.

The first, from University of Alaska Fairbanks police, was a request for a welfare check after Reese didn't pick up her two young children from a child-care facility. ^[1]

The second, from a co-worker of hers, was that Reese left work at lunch but never returned.
