USA vs. France 2016 Olympics Soccer Match (Women's Group G)

The Group G USA vs. France women's soccer game took place on 6 August 2016.

The match was played in the Estadio Mineirão- a stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brasil- during the 2016 Rio Olympics. It was the second game for each team in the qualification phase. The victory for team USA resulted in their automatic qualification for the elimination round.

Controversy

Team USA scored an own-goal in minute 85' of the game, and the goal was not counted by the referees.

It is believed to have been offsides.

Additionally, USA goalkeeper Hope Solo was berated by the crowd in attendance. She had offended some people after posting this photo: Solo has deleted the photo from her Twitter, but some of the soccer fans were triggered to the point of yelling "Zika!" at Hope.
