Union Middle School 2016 Shooting (Sandy, Utah)
On October 25th, 2016, A 14 year boy named Ethan, a student from Union Middle School in Sandy, Utah shot 16 year old Joshua Cordova during altercation between the two teenagers. Josh is a student from Hillcrest High School. [1] [undefined] According to testimony, the teens were supposed to fight after school as Ethan had insulted the mother of Josh, who is now dead. Josh had come into the school reporting to the other students that he was going to hurt Ethan for his profanity against his mother. [undefined]
After the school day ended, Josh had brought some friends with him to protect him in case Ethan brought a gun.
The two met and began arguing behind Union Middle School just north of Sandy Union park.
At some point, Ethan pulled out his gun and shot Josh in the head.
As Josh fell to the ground, he shot him again in the chest, which then he lifted his head and began shaking.
According to witnesses, Ethan sat on the ground and began to cry.
Josh was taken to Intermountain Medical Center is in critical condition and has been moved to surgery after sustaining two gunshot wounds.
Ethan has been taken into custody.
Authorities are investigating whether he Ethan carried his gun at the school throughout the day while in session, or whether he got it after.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown.
After investigations took place, and few hours later, the lock down was lifted and parents could pick up their children again.
No one else was hurt during the shooting.
