Tyler Adkison
Tyler Adkison is an investor, sports & entertainment agent, former hedge fund manager, and retired baseball player based in West Los Angeles. [1] He was the founder and CEO of BlockTerra Capital.
Early Life & Education
Adkison grew up in Culver City, California and attended Mater Dei High School where he played baseball. Upon graduating in 2013, he attended San Diego State University where he was an All-America outfielder on the baseball team; he was coached by baseball Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn.
Career
Baseball
In 2017, Adkison was named an National Collegiate Athletic Association All-America member and to the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award final 40 list. Adkison was drafted in the 32nd round (970th overall) of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft.
In 2018, Adkison played for the Los Angeles Dodgers' farm team, the Ogden Raptors and Great Lakes Loons; he had a career.300 batting average. On March 30, 2018, he announced his retirement from baseball to pursue opportunities in the fintech and venture capital industries.
BlockTerra Launch
Disillusioned with baseball, Adkison retired from professional baseball at the age of 22 to start a crypto hedge fund. He launched BlockTerra Capital in 2018, which he has claimed to be the first crypto hedge fund to focus exclusively on athletes. [1] Along with working with accredited investors and family offices, BlockTerra also has professional athletes as their clientele including Tony Gwynn Jr. and Joe Kelly; Kelly was his first client.
As of April 2018, he has around 30 clients, most of whom are professional baseball and football players.
