Smith was a Marketing /Pre-med Major with a Minor in Technology Entrepreneurship and earned his B.S. at the University of Maryland, College Park. In college, he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and he played both sprint football and rugby.
Immediately after leaving medical school, Smith began a career in finance as an Equity Derivatives Broker at Tradition Financial Services on Wall Street.
He first became interested in cryptocurrency when Tyler Fallon, a long-time friend and the future founder of Upfiring (cryptocurrency), introduced him to Ethereum. Shortly after, he co-founded Crypico, a platform that allows freelancers to buy and sell services with cryptocurrency.  
Soon after, Smith founded CoinScribble, a cryptocurrency journalism platform that reaches almost 3 million monthly visitors.  CoinScribble also operates CoinScribble Media, a platform that allows marketers to purchase press releases and sponsored content from cryptocurrency news sites and social media influencers.
