Troy Gentry (April 5, 1967 - September 8, 2017) was an American musician and one half of country duo Montgomery Gentry with Eddie Montgomery. ^[0]

In the early 1990s, he began playing in a number of bands with partner Eddie Montgomery and Eddie's brother, John Michael Montgomery. After he failed to secure a solo record deal when he won a talent contest in 1994, he formed Montgomery Gentry in 1999. ^{[5] [4]}

The duo produced a number of country music hits, including "My Town," and "Hell Yeah."

Gentry married Angie McClure in 1999, they gave birth to a daughter named Kaylee in 2002.

He also has a daughter named Taylor from a previous marriage.

On September 8, 2017, Gentry died following a helicopter crash in Medford, New Jersey. ^{[2] [1]}The crash took place at about 1:00 p.m. local time. ^{[2] [1]}
