Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus

Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus

Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus is a conceptual starfighter designed by Lucasfilm in collaboration with Porsche for the Star Wars universe. [1]

Overview

Porsche teamed up with Lucasfilm to design a starfighter called the Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus. It's set to be featured in the film Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker as ship that Resistance pilot Poe Dameron flies into battle with the Kylo Ren-led First Order. [2]

While it's not likely the S-91x Pegasus will be put into production, a 5-foot-long subscale model will be featured at the “Rise of Skywalker” premiere in Los Angeles. [1]

Design

The S-91x Pegasus is inspired by several of Porsche's designs, traces of the Taycan is visible in its nose and headlights, while the 911 can be seen in the overall shape. There are no pictures of the interior, but it's said to be inspired by the 918 Spyder. The starfighter also looks somewhat like a B2 bomber. In a press release, Porsche AG vice president Michael Mauer explained the principles of design: [2]

"The design of the spaceship is harmoniously integrated into the Star Wars film world while at the same time demonstrating clear analogies with the characteristic Porsche styling and proportions.

The basic shape of the cabin, which tapers towards the rear, and a highly distinctive topography from the cockpit flyline to the turbines establish visual parallels with the iconic design of the 911 and the Taycan.

The very compact layout conveys dynamism and agility, lending emphasis to the Porsche design features mentioned."

The design even feature a seating area for an R2-D2-like astromech droid. It looks closer to the ETA-2 Jedi Starfighter than any other vehicle in the Star Wars universe. [1]
