Tosin Morohunfola is an actor, writer, director, poet, filmmaker and a Chicago transplant based in Los Angeles.
Early Life
Tosin did competitive acting tournaments called Forensics in high school and then landed at the University of Kansas in their theatre program and he graduated the college in 2010.
Career
When he was seeking his hobby, his immigrant parents started realizing how serious acting was for him so they supported his journey but did their due diligence to make sure he had a back-up.
But one faithful day, he let them know his plan B is to reinforce plan A and after that standoff, they were fully committed, and it was off to the races.
With the rest of his time in college, he created and ran his own theatre company, (called “The Multicultural Theatre Initiative”), and learned how to produce his own work.
After graduating, he interned at a theatre in Colorado, then slowly began working up the ranks in Kansas City’s theatre scene.
He is a recurring guest on Black Lightning (2018), Love Is_ (2018) and The Chi (2018).
Tosin is also a filmmaker, most known for directing a social justice police thriller called On Sight (2016) and a short film about fatherhood, family and fear called Endowed (2016).
He is also an improviser and spoken word poet and artist.
His writing and filmmaking centers on stories of empathy, awareness and seeing the human as a hero.
In Chicago, when he was no longer doing television, he performed at the Goodman theatre, Court theatre, Lookingglass, Northlight, and Victory Gardens theatre, where he won the "Best Supporting Actor" award from the Black Theatre Alliance for "The Gospel of Lovingkindness".
Before appearing Off-Broadway at the New Victory Theatre, he got his start in Kansas City at the Unicorn theatre, Coterie theatre and the Kansas City Rep theatre.
He has also directed plays for the Coterie and Creede Repertory theatres.
