Tom Hulme
Tom Hulme is a General Partner at GV. He is based out of London, United Kingdom. Hulme is currently on the Board Director of OpenIDEO & OI Engine and Senior Advisor to IDEO.
Education
Hulme attended Bristol University and attained a Bachelor's in science for physics.
He then went earn his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and received the Baker Scholar Award of high distinction.
Prior to attending college, Hulme spent a year teaching secondary school in Tanzania.
Career
Tom was managing director of Marcos, a British sports car manufacturer before founding the magnetic filter startup, The Magnom Corporation.
Tom’s filter designs have been widely used in Formula One, superbikes, agricultural equipment, and central heating systems.
Hulme has made over 21 personal investments including GoCardless, LostMyName, Qriously, Duedil, Mile IQ, and Move Guides.
IDEO
He was originally the Design Director for IDEO’s open innovation platform, and in 2001 won a Webby Award in the Community Category and presently has over 60,000 users from more than 170 countries.
Hulme originally concieved of the platform while sitting in Clay Christensen's class at Harvard Business School.
Distinctions
He is a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and was listed in Wired UK’s top 100 “digital power brokers”.
