Tom Begaye is a resident from Waterflow, New Mexico. He is a Navajo man.
Allegations
On May 3, 2016, Begaye was arrested by the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation in connection to the Abduction! and death of Ashlynne Mike .
Ashlynne Mike and her younger brother were taken by Begaye on May 2, 2016 after getting off the bus in Lower Fruitland in the Navajo Nation. He reportedly told the children he would take them to go see a movie. The younger brother was able to escape, but Ashlynne Mike was not.
Her body was found in Shiprock, New Mexico, near a rock formation.
Motive
According to authorities involved in the case, Ashlynne Mike was hit twice in the head with a tire iron. Tom admitted to sexually assaulting her before hitting her with the tire iron until she stopped moving.
