Tina Werner Delaware

Tina Werner Delaware

Tina Werner is a 59-year-old resident of Felton, Delaware, and was a manager of the Game Stop in her town. She is married to Steve Warner and has a daughter named Melissa Slater.

Death

On August 24, 2016 died after falling off a zip lining platform at a Go Ape Tree Top Adventure park in the Bear, Delaware. The platform was about 40 ft high. At the platforms participants switch from one zip line or crossing and have to unclip themselves from their harness so at the platform they will have no protection if they fall. Also at the platforms there are no railings to prevent someone from falling.

When Tina fell, Park rangers and Go Ape employees performed first aid until paramedics arrived. She was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. [1]

The park has been shut down for investigation.

Officials said Thursday that Werner's body has been turned over to the Division of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.

The treetop course spans seven acres and includes four zip lines and a variety of swings, rope ladders, bridges and trapezes.

Before embarking on the course which includes zip lines as high as 50 feet the participants receive 30 minutes of instruction.

Chris Swallow a director at Go Ape said "The Go Ape team is deeply saddened by this tragic occurrence," and "Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends and in particular to those who were on the course with her at the time." [1]

Facebook Post by her daughter Melissa Slater:

Today, about 3 hours ago, I was told that my mother has died.

Full of love and adventure, I am thankful to be her daughter.

My mom died completing her bucket list, zip lining in Newark.

During this time, I seek to understand God's purpose.

I want to take this opportunity to remind you that we never know when we are no longer on this earth.

It is necessary to acknowledge that God gives us life through His son's sacrifice for our sins and by repenting, we are made new.

By living a life for God, according to His Word, we are able to live eternally.

This is truly the hardest situation that I have ever faced.

I ask for you prayers for my family.

I would also like to ask for prayers as I learn how to make arrangements.

Please hold your family close tonight and give God glory.
