Timothy O'Brien Smith is a resident in the state of Pennsylvania.

Smith is also known as Timothy and Tim Smith.

He studied photography at Westmoreland County Community College.

On Sunday, January 28, 2018, Smith allegedly shot four people dead in Melcroft, Pennsylvania.

The shooting occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on Route 711, also known as Indian Creek Valley Road at Ed's Car Wash, across from G&D Market and beside Ridgeline Heating and Cooling. ^[1]

The victims have been identified as Chelsie Cline, 25; Courtney Snyder, 23; Seth Cline, 21; and William Porterfield, 29. ^[1]

Smith shot the victims with a semi-automatic rifle and handgun. The victims arrived at the scene in two separate vehicles. ^[1]

William Porterfield, 27, and Chelsie Cline, 25, arrived in a silver Dodge vehicle. They were killed inside the vehicle while near the side of the car wash. ^[1]

Courtney Snyder and Seth Cline were shot and killed in a green pickup truck.

One unidentified woman, who was in the rear seat of the pickup truck, took cover and avoided the shooting.

Smith was armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle,.308-caliber rifle and 9mm handgun and was wearing a body armor carrier without the ballistic panels inserted. ^[1]

Smith is currently on life support and is not expected to survive from a self-inflicted Gunshot wound to the head. ^[1]

Officials have not released a motive or revealed how Smith knew the victims, but Sierra Kolarik, half-sister of victim Chelsie Cline, told local media that Cline and Smith knew each other, and he developed an obsession over her.
