Early Life & Education.
At the age of 15, Tim decided to quit playing soccer and began pursuing a career in boxing.
He attended St George Christian School and Newington College.
He enrolled in a business degree at the University of Technology Sydney following his high school graduation.
Tszyu amassed an amateur boxing record of 33–1 before turning professional in 2016 at the age of 22.
He won the Australian National Championship in 2011.
His father, Kostya Tszyu, was from the former Soviet Union. Kostya Tszyu held the junior welterweight world championship for many years.[10]
Professional Career
Undefeated Boxer
Tszyu turned pro in 2016 with a win over Zorran Cassidy.
As of July 2022, Tszyu has an undefeated record of 21 wins, with 15 wins by knockout.
He was trained in the past by Dewey Cooper. He won the WBC-ABCO Continental light-middleweight title in his seventh bout, with a unanimous decision over Wade Ryan. He defeated Jack Brubaker on December 6, 2019 in Sydney at the ICC Exhibition Centre.[6] Tszyu is managed by Glen Jennings.[11]
WBO Champion
On August 26, 2020, he defeated former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn via eighth-round tko at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
Horn holds a win over Manny Pacquiao. As of July 2021 he is the World Boxing Organization number one junior middleweight contender. Tim ‘The Soul Taker’ Tszyu tko'd Stevie ‘The Viking’ Spark at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Newcastle, Australia on July 7, 2021.[7] Australian junior middleweight Tim ‘The Soul Taker’ Tszyu kept his hopes of a world title fight alive with a dominant 12-round points win over tough Japanese boxer Takeshi Inoue 17-2-1 (10) at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia in November 2021. Tszyu dominated the fight from the first gong to last, going the championship distance for the first time in his career to win by scores of 120-107, 120-107, and 119-108. He defeated Terrell Gausha on March 26, 2022 for the WBO Global World Superwelterweight Title.
