Tim Smith was a police officer for Eastman Police Department in Eastman, Georgia. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and graduated in 2009 from the police academy.
Shot Dead
On August 13, 2016, Tim Smith (Police Officer) responded to a suspicious call by a person, and had immediately encountered the suspect, Royheem Delshawn Deeds. As he got out of his patrol vehicle, he conversed with the alleged gunman, who proceeded to shoot Tim point blank. He was fatally shot about 9:30 p.m. in a residential area of the city located about 60 miles southeast of Macon. Tim was not wearing a body camera. The suspect, Royheem Delshawn Deeds, is still on the loose, and is considered armed and dangerous. At the time of the shooting, Tim was not wearing his body camera.
Tim was able to radio in that he had been shot.
He was transferred to Dodge County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Smith worked briefly as a part-time officer in Jacksonville, a small town in southern Telfair County.
