He was born to R.Theresnathan B.Com and S. Amalamary on 10 May at Vridhachalam,

South Arcot district, Tamil Nadu, India along with T. John Peter Elbirel.M.A,

B.Ed (Elder) and Dr.T.Vincent Paul

===Lineage===

Thomas Rathnam's fore fathers Kumara swamy Desikar (5th Great Grand father),

Velaiyar(4th Great Grand father), Siva Prakasar (4th Great Grand father), Karunai Prakasar (4th Great Grand father), Sundaresanar (3rd Great Grand father) were saivate Philosophers & Poets originated from Kancheepuram contributed more than Forty books for Thamizh literature (Nanneri, Nerrotta yamaha anthathi, Thiruchedhur ulaa, Naalvar Naan Mani Maalai,Yesu Matha Niragaranam...).

His Second Great Grandfather Susai alias swaminatha Desikar was born and brought up from Valavanur near by Mailam Murugan Temple converted himself to Christianity on 1884.

His Grandpa S.V.S.Rathinam a famous Patriot, who received Gold medal for fighting against Untouchability served as a Bench Magistrate and settled down at Kallakurichi.

In this cycle, their ancestors mixed with all breeds (castes) without any exception.

Hence after Susai, the whole family group termed as "Indian Christian’s from Susai family" or "Susai Vagaiyara".

Done his schooling at Cuddalore, St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School (Cuddalore),Manjakuppam and graduated as B.E (Electronics & Communication) from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, DPM, BGL - Annamalai University,

DMT - Madras University, DEXMM, DVJ++ from various universities.
