Theunis Wessels is a man who lives in Three Hills, Alberta. In June 2017, a photo of him mowing the lawn went viral online. ^[0]

On the evening of June 2nd, Theunis' wife, Cecilia, was woken up from a nap by their 9-year-old daughter who was upset that Theunis would not come inside from the tornado.

Cecilia then got a camera and took a picture of him mowing their lawn as a tornado was moving in the background.

Mowing the lawn was on the of Theuis' to-do list.

She took the picture to show her family in their native South Africa but has since spread across the internet. ^[0]

In response to the virality of the photo, Theunis said that the tornado looked much closer than it actually was and that he was "keeping an eye on it."

Theunis is originally from South Africa. He earned both his Bachelor's (with honors)and Master's Degree in Animal Nutrition from the University of the Free State. ^[1]

Wessels started his career as a Sales Manager for Epol, a division of Rainbow in Pietermaritzburg Area, South Africa.

In 2009, he moved to Alberta, Canada where he worked in sales and procurement of agricultural products for several different companies including Wetaskiwin Co., Edmonton Co-op, and Federated Co-operatives Limited, Feed Division. Today he works in sales, marketing, project management, & nutrition for Poultry Partners Inc. & Nutrition Partners Inc. ^[1]
