Theophilous Washington is a a student in his third year at Millersville University of Pennsylvania in Millersville, Pennsylvania. He previously attended Dunbar High School (Washington, D.C.). ^[1]

On October 28, 2016 Theophilous Washington attempted to murder his pregnant girlfriend's unborn child. He allegedly put bleach in her water bottle in an attempt to kill her unborn child.

Theophilous was charged by Lancaster County prosecutors with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder of an unborn child as well as reckless endangering.

He was taken into custody on October 28, 2016 and has been held at Lancaster County Prison on bail of $1 million.

"The charges are twisted and the intended result nothing short of horrifying," District Attorney Craig Stedman said, in a written statement.

According to the DA's office, Washington offered his girlfriend a water from his refrigerator as she was leaving his room Friday morning.

She drank the water when she returned to her room and felt a burning sensation in her throat.

She vomited before calling 911.

A doctor examined the woman, who is about 2 months pregnant, and her unborn child.

Both were believed to be unharmed.

In a statement to police, Washington admitted putting bleach in the water bottle, the DA's office said.

He had previously stated that he did not want the woman to have the baby.

No other students were ever threatened, officials at the Lancaster County university said.

"This was a horrible, unconscionable event," said Brian Hazlett, vice president of student affairs and enrollment management at Millersville University said, in a written statement.

"It is very disturbing to me personally because I consider our students to be our family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and we're doing everything we can to make sure she is OK."

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be filed, according to the DA's office.
