The Thundering Sword (神劍震江湖) is a 1967 Hong Kong wuxia film directed by Teng Hung Hsu.^[2] The film was produced by Runme Shaw for Shaw Brothers Studio and is based on the screenplay by Chiang Shen.^[3]

Chief Instructor and High Priest of the Yuan Mountain Clan learns about the existence of a weapon, The Thundering Sword. It is a weapon so powerful that it has no equal. He concludes that the only way to bring peace back into the world is to destroy it, and so dispatches two highly-skilled warriors to retrieve it.

Along the way, the two fighters encounter a skilled swordswoman who is also after the sword.

A complex situation develops when she falls in love with one of the men and thoughtlessly wounds the other.

Though the sword is eventually found, the love story and the guilt of the woman over her hasty and violent actions towards the companion of the man she loves takes center stage.

The Thundering Sword was filmed on 35mm color film with a mono audio soundtrack featuring Mandarin dialogue. The Shawscope cinematographic process was used in production and the film's total runtime is 90 minutes. The Thundering Sword premiered on 8 May 1967 in Hong Kong.^[4]
