The Oath of Death

The Oath of Death (萬箭穿心) is a 1971 Hong Kong wuxia film directed by Hsueh Li Pao. The film was produced by Run Run Shaw for Shaw Brothers and is based on the screenplay by Shu Mei Chin.[1]

Plot

Three rebel swordsmen swear an oath to be blood brothers, no matter what.

Rebelling against the Tatar invaders, they build a fortress and set about gathering an army. Part of their oath is to do whatever they can to repel the invaders, and anyone who gets cold feet will be killed by the others. They manage to infiltrate the enemy ranks but many tests of their brotherhood await.

Production and release

The Oath of Death on 35mm color film with a mono audio soundtrack featuring Mandarin dialogue. The Shawscope cinematographic process was used in production and the film's total runtime is 94 minutes. The film premiered on 10 December 1971 in Hong Kong.[2]
