The highest priced CS:GO skin sale on record

The highest priced CS:GO skin sale on record

A virtual weapon for the online video game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive sold for $61,052.63 on January 29, 2018 [1].

This is the highest price sale on record for a digital in-game item, sometimes called skins, and sold on the in-game digital items trading marketplace.

[0]

The item, a Souvenir AWP | Dragon Lore (Factory New), can attribute it's high price to the rarity of the item compounded by the addition of an “autograph” sticker by Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham who plays on team Cloud9.

Timing was also a factor - the day before, Cloud9 became the first American squad to win a Valve-sponsored CS:GO event.

Valve is the popular first person shooter game's publisher.

The match is considered by some to be one of the greatest moments in eSports.

Prices of in-game digital items can range from pennies to tens of thousands of dollars.

About 200,000 new people buy virtual items through OPSkins each month, and it is the world's largest marketplace for trading in-game digital items for games like CS:GO, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUDS, H1Z1, DOTA 2 and more [2].

It is also the team behind WAX [3].
