Conception
During the 2015 Fees Must Fall movement of student protests in Cape Town and throughout cities in South Africa, many questions concerning the chaos of the education system and Black consciousness amongst black women were raised by Jabu Newman.
The show's aesthetics is an allusion to the 70s Blaxploitation era that hoists up the African American posture within the American culture enacted in films such as Foxy Brown, where the title character played by Pam Grier procured a position of power.
