The Big Day is American recording artist Chance The Rapper's debut studio album.

Chance first alluded to a possible album back in 2016 during an interview with DJ Semtex.

He said "I think what I'm working on now is an album".

In a 2017 interview with Complex, he mentioned that his upcoming debut album would be sold to fans and not given away for free like he's done with previous mixtapes.

Chance considers The Big Day to be his debut album, though some think that Coloring Book is earned that title because it dropped as an Apple Music exclusive.

In 2018 Chance stated in an interview with Chicago Tribune that he would be dropping the album on July 20th.

LAter in February of 2019, Chance announced on Twitter that he'd be dropping an album in July.

On July 16, 2019, while talking to Jimmy Fallon, Chance announced the album title and release date.

When midnight rolled around on the expected release date of July 26th and the album hadn't come out yet, people began to fear that it was pushed back.

The album dropped at 12pm on July 26th.

On June 27, 2019, Chance released a promotional video titled "The Next Chapter Begins", and launched album pre-orders.

Chance considers The Big Day to be the culmination of his journey from self-starting underground rapper to a mainstream face that everyone recognizes.

The 22 track project focuses on topics like faith, youth, fatherhood and the fate.
