Plot summary
A sexploitation film set in the 1940s, the story begins with Japanese troops attacking Chinese resistance fighters. During the chaos, a dying man tells his wife about a secret stash of gold. The Japanese soldiers take all the surviving captured women as prisoners to a POW camp where they are tortured, abused and raped.
A group of women attempt to escape the camp, but they are caught and begin to suspect a traitor is among their numbers.
They eventually escape with the Japanese in pursuit and, as they travel to the location of the gold, the traitor starts killing them off one at a time.

Production and release
The Bamboo House of Dolls was shot on 35mm color film and features Mandarin dialogue on a mono audio soundtrack. The Panavision cinematographic process was used in production along with Panavision cameras and lenses. The film's total runtime is 110 minutes and it premiered on 21 December 1973 in Hong Kong.[2]
