The Author Side
The Author Side
How disappointing, that the people who have never been to the depths of hell, forget that hell exists.
Dana Hindi (/deɪnə ˈhɪndi/, born 03/26/2001), known online as theauthorside (formerly danawrites.inc), is an American author, Instagram influencer and podcast host. She started her Instagram account several years ago, and began to garner online attention in early May of 2020.
Career
Hindi's career began when she participated in a writer's program that was put on by her university.
She published her piece The Throne of Thorns & Fire in a collection of works titled "Famous First Words." Her book became available for purchase on Amazon on April 18, 2020.
Hindi posted a video on TikTok that detailed how she published her book.
The video has since amassed over 100,000 views and kickstarted a series that she called "A Guide To Self-Publishing," where she answered questions that were posted in the comments of her videos.
After gaining support and popularity, her TikTok viewers pushed her to begin writing the piece into a full length novel.
This gave her the support and encouragement that she needed to begin writing, and she announced on April 20, 2020, on her instagram stories that she would be self-publishing a novella, scheduled for release sometime in 2021.
This had thousands of people waiting on the edge of their seats for the release.
After much anticipation, Hindi announced on August 20, 2020 that her book could be released late 2020 if she continued to make enough progress with her writing.
She also mentioned that it is no longer going to be a novella, but she has elongated it to become the size of a full-length novel.
"I said what I said.
I don't think I have the strength to ask it again," ⏤ Prince Maxwell, The Throne of Thorns & Fire
Podcast
Dana announced the launch of her podcast on her Instagram in the beginning of May, and released the trailer on May 14, 2020.
She has since released over 10 episodes and used to sell her own merchandise on her website.
Her podcast is currently available to listen to on Anchor, Spotify, Google, Apple Podcasts and many other streaming platforms.
Hindi had her first celebrity appearance on her podcast, by popular writer Max Landis, on May 26, 2020 and uploaded a second episode featuring him, 3 days later on the 29th.
TikTok
Hindi has had some luck by posting videos on TikTok, one video reached over a million views.
However, sometime after the Black Lives Matter movement, she claims that TikTok began targeting her videos, and removing them unfairly.
She proved this by showing how TikTok specifically took down the videos in which she makes jokes about being Arab.
Are we trying this again?
Without a shadow of a doubt.
Dana then proceeded to create a new TikTok account, using her current online username, theauthorside.
Her videos began to gain quick attention and she had over 400 total likes on her account in less than 6 hours.
Personal
She was born in North Carolina but lived her whole life in Dubai.
She openly speaks about her background and Arab culture.
Hindi was professionally diagnosed with OSDD (Other Specified Dissociative Disorder) and frequently uses her platform as a means to raise awareness about the dissociative spectrum and educates her listeners on the topic.
She recently expressed her support for the online DID community, and decided to join it as many creators began leaving.
I refuse to let the years of hard work and education go to waste.
I will not stand by and watch this community fall apart when there are so many people who could take comfort in it.
