On August 11, 2016 Thailand (Country)'s tourist areas had seven known bombings occur within an 8-hour window.
In the Hua Hin Bombing (2016), twin bombs - hidden in plants around 50m apart - were detonated via cellphones.
One woman died and at least five were injured.
Around 8 hours later, the Thai resort towns of Surat Thani Province were attacked in a string of explosions.
Dozens of foreign tourists were injured; one was reported dead.
One explosion occurred in the Loma Park area, located on Phuket Island.
Another attack subsequently followed near a police station on Patong’s beach road.
Although explosions are not uncommon in Thailand, it is rare for them to occur in tourist resorts.
