Desmond was a part of the Foster care system in Philadelphia county.

His birth parents struggled with drug addiction when he was born and couldn't take care of him.

His social worker, Kathy Desmond, became his foster mother and then adopted him when he turned 6. ^[5]

Thaddeus is expected to speak at the DNC on July 26th, 2016.

He was first contacted by the Hillary Clinton's campaign as it collected information from young professionals in the child welfare field.
