History

From the very beginning, in 1994, they dedicated themselves to the difficult task of achieving their own sound, a musical voice that was easily recognizable just by listening to the first bars of their songs.

And thanks to that determination they were able to achieve their goal with more than evident success.

Tecupae's musical journey

His first production saw the light of day in the year 2000, beginning the road to the summit with "The Odyssey".

Two years later their second CD would arrive: "Viviendo", with which they became favorites among Venezuelans.

Later in 2004, they began a new stage of their career with the support of one of the most successful companies in the Venezuelan industry, HAF Producciones, and launched their third record production "Tres semanas cuatro días", which contained the well-known songs "Amor chiquitico", "Y voy a amarte" and "Mentirosa", which catapulted them into a genuine national phenomenon and consolidated them as the most popular group in Venezuelan radio stations.

In 2007 their fourth album, "Revísame" appeared and immediately compositions such as "Dentro del pecho", "Me enamoré" and "Como Olvidarte" were sown in the popular taste and led them to win a Triple Platinum Record, besides obtaining five first places in the Venezuelan National Record Report.

In 2010 they began their definitive internationalization by signing with the most important record labels in the industry, Zamora Music Group and Sony Music Latin, and in March of the same year they launched their new record production "Tiempo", which appeared in six countries simultaneously: United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

This work was accompanied by songs like "Sueño contigo", "Róbame un beso", "No vale la pena" and "Ha pasado un año".

For 2013 they release the single "Devuélveme", which would be included in their next album.

This effort has had great results, since it has made the group begin to tour all these countries to infect them with their music, their charisma and the energy they show in each performance.

With effort and dedication, Tecupae was able to stay in the top places with their latest songs for that moment, taking them to reach an outstanding level in Venezuelan music and the world.

So much so that they were nominated twice for a Latin Grammy, first in the category of Best Contemporary Tropical Album with "Tiempo" and as Best Tropical Song with "Sueño Contigo".

In 2016, they will release through their Youtube channel a style focused on acoustics with a small part of the great songs "Y voy amarte", "Dentro del pecho" and "Sueño contigo", the latter nominated for a Latin Grammy.

After a break, they return in 2017 for a media tour throughout Venezuela and also start pre-producing the video clip of the song "El favorito".

The song was composed by Daniel Rondón and Luis Medina and was recorded under the production of Johnattan "Big" Faria.

This song is based on the proposal of a lover to the most important woman in his life, a totally romantic song that was very well received by the public.

At the same time they announce the release of a DVD with the 20 years of experience of the group, under the production of Johnattan Faria.

Throughout their career they have formed excellent members, who with much determination have forged the successful path they have taken.

Each one of them is a fundamental part of Tecupae, from singing to dancing.

In addition, they have marked a totally original style with each of their songs, making themselves different from the rest.

Tecupae influences

His main references are the Latin genres such as salsa, ballad, merengue, Cuban and Anglo music.

Among the artists they admire are Luis Fonsi, Oscar D' León, Chayanne and Mark Anthony.

Meaning and style of Tecupae

The name of the group was not planned, but rather improvised, as it was a close friend of the group who recommended that they place Tecupae on it in the form of a joke and they would eventually take that name as the one that represented them.

The group's style focuses on totally digestible Latin fusions that make people dance and enjoy themselves in a very happy way.[2]
