When he was a teenager, he used to record music with a Rock Band microphone and beats he found on SoundClick. He uploaded his rap songs to YouTube and DatPiff. He started learning how to make beats by watching his older brother recording on Mixcraft. Eventually, he started producing his own beats and uploading them to YouTube. He received money based on the views he received, which incentivized him to focus more on music production.
Tay Keith solidified himself in the Memphis rap scene when he produced a song on Blac Youngsta's mixtape called "Whole Life;" he produced three beats on Blac Youngsta's mixtape Young and Restless. He eventually started working with other rappers, including Moneybagg Yo and BlocBoy JB at a time when Tay Keith claims to have developed his sound.
