Tawon Boyd is a man from West Baltimore, Maryland Tawon Boyd died while under Baltimore County Police Officers custody.
He appeared to be in a happy relationship with his fiancee, Deona Styron. They had a baby together. [1]
Tawon Boyd lived with his grandma, his fiancee, and their child.
Death
On the wee hours of Sunday morning, September 18th, 2016, police responded to a call regarding a disturbance in Akin Circle between Styron and Boyd.
The call was made by Boyd's fiancee.
According to Boyd's fiancee he was acting deranged and that he was under the influence of Cannabis and Alcohol. The police attempted to calm him down as he was acting "Confused and paranoid".
According to numerous eye-witnesses, Boyd was not his normal self.
He banged on several neighbors' doors and attempted to get inside the police vehicles.
The police claim they tried to take him to the emergency room and refused to obey orders.
He fought and injured three officers in violent struggles - he ripped off their badges, the cords to their phones, and fought them with his fists.
His grandma said the following:
“He was just hollering and screaming on the ground, and they just kept pushing him down, pushing him down, on his shoulder and back and stuff, hitting him...
He was trying to get them off of him.”
The cops holding Boyd threatened to imprison Boyd's grandma if she didn't get on the other side of the street.
“They told me to go across the street before they lock me up.”
The medics arrived to sedate Boyd.
As the cops lifted him into the stretcher, he was apparently dangling and unconscious.
The medication that they gave Boyd has been redacted from the Police Reports.
He died a few days later.
An investigation is being done by the Baltimore County Police Department administration to determine whether the police officers were doing their jobs right.
