Taiyang Zhang is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Ren cryptocurrency project and a Founding Member of KeeperDAO.
Early Life
Zhang was born in Canberra, Australia.
Zhang studied Computer Science at the Australian National University for less than one year.[5] He then worked as a software developer.
Career
Zhang is a serial entrepreneur. Before founding Ren, founded Neucode, a software development agency with Loong Wang and Jaz Gulati who are now respectively Chief Technology Officer and Lead Developer at Ren.
He was formerly an early partner and algorithmic developer at a crypto-currency trading firm.
Ren Protocol
Zhang and Loong Wang founded Ren Protocol in mid 2017. Ren describes itself as "open-source protocol providing access to inter-blockchain liquidity for decentralized applications", bridging digital assets such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, ZCash to the Ethereum, Solana and Polkadot blockchains.
Ren has an estimated 10 to 20 employees between Australia, Singapore and London.
Ren's investors include cryptocurrency giants Polychain Capital, FBG Capital, Huobi Capital and Kenetic Capital.
RenVM, Asylo and Kubernetes
In January 2021, Zhang published a post detailing Ren's plans to use Asylo, a private-preserving computation on Google Cloud's developer blog.
Alameda Research Acquisition
In February 2021, the Ren development team announced it was joining Alameda Research. Alameda Research was founded by billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried the CEO of FTX.
KeeperDAO
Zhang is also a Founding Member of KeeperDAO, a joint venture with Amber Group, a leading crypto finance service provider.
KeeperDAO has raised a "7 figure seed round" from notable funds Three Arrows Capital and Polychain Capital.[13]
