Stupid Young is a Cambodian-American rapper out of Long Beach, California who rose to fame after releasing standout singles “Mando” ft Mozzy and “Trust Nobody.
Early Life
Young was born Alex Pham on October 3, 1992 in Long Beach, California. His parents are Cambodian refugees who fled to the United States after experiencing life under a Communist regime. He was often bullied growing up and joined an Asian gang at age 14 for protection, becoming affiliated with the Asian boys.When he should have been in school studying, Stupid Young found himself going in and out of jail. Stupid Young started rapping when he was young and only took it more seriously after attending juvenile camp for a gun charge.
Career
Stupid Young released his first song at the age of eighteen.
Some of his earliest singles included “For My City” ft DJ-Put and “I Don’t Like.”
After a few years of grinding, he got a break, being featured alongside Heartbreaka on Yung Jae’s standout track “Feel Like.”
Stupid Young kept dropping songs until 2017 when “Mando” went viral on YouTube and Worldstarhiphop. The hit single gave his Soundcloud and social media accounts a bigger following. The music video reached more than 19 million views on YouTube. He also dropped the tracks “Eastside” ft Bizzy and a grabbed a feature on P-Nice’s “I’m From Long Beach.” before dropping a 15-track mix titled “No Days Off.” which featured artists like Kidd Kidd, Ham$ta, and Ripp Flamez and others. The most well known tracks are “Eastside,” “Flex,” and “Pistol Poppa.”
