Street Bud

Street Bud

Street Bud (born July 30, 2004) is a rapper who shot to fame after winning season four of the Lifetime reality show The Rap Game in 2018.

Early life

Street Bud was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His mother’s name is Cori. At some point in his childhood, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia with his family. With his father getting incarcerated time and again, his mother virtually raised him on her own.

Professional life

He started his career in August 2015 when he began posting original music to his self-titled YouTube channel.

Street Bud had been active as a young rapper in the Atlanta hip hop scene for quite a while. He released his debut album, ‘Get Cha Mind Right’ on September 15, 2016, through Kidchella Entertainment.

The album has six tracks: ‘Dabb Down’, ‘Steph Curry’, the title track ‘Get Cha Mind Right’, ‘Nah Forreal’, ‘Fly Kix’, and ‘Take Off’.

He set up a self-titled YouTube channel in August 2015 and uploaded his first video that very day. In time, YouTube became his primary medium for releasing music and communicate with his fans. As of 2018, he has more than 70 thousand subscribers on the channel and over 3.5 million views.

Garnering a modest amount of fame via social media, Street Bud began to perform stage shows as well. These shows, combined with his considerable social media presence and the 2016 album, earned him a spot on ‘The Rap Game’.

Street Bud, along with Jordan, Lil Bri, RapUnzel, and Ricci Bitti, appeared on the season four of the show.

Presented by Jermaine Dupri, the show also featured actress and rapper Queen Latifah. Street Bud emerged as a clear favourite to win the competition.

He not only had the vocal capabilities but also had already developed a rap personality for himself. His mother’s presence in ‘The Rap Game’ house as his manager also tremendously helped him.

He was declared the season winner on the final episode of the 4th season, aired on February 23, 2018.

As the winner, he received a custom-made So So Def gold chain from Jermaine Dupri and signed with his record label, So So Def Recordings.
